Keynote sharing at the Shanghai-Hong Kong-Macao Youth Economic Development Forum

Joseph Mak, Dean of the Asia-Pacific ESG Strategy Research Institute, was invited to attend the “Shanghai-Hong Kong-Macau Youth Economic Development Forum” hosted by the Shanghai-Hong Kong Coalition. Serving as a keynote speaker, he focused on the theme “ESG Innovation and Entrepreneurship Practices for Hong Kong Youth in the Era of New Quality Productive Forces.” During the event, he engaged with youth representatives, experts, scholars, and business leaders from the three regions to discuss development opportunities and address potential challenges.

Joseph Mak called for strengthened cooperation between Shanghai, Hong Kong, and Macau to collectively create a favorable environment for youth-led ESG innovation and entrepreneurship. He suggested:

Strengthen policy guidance and improve the ESG standard system

The government should introduce more policy measures to support the development of ESG, establish and improve the ESG information disclosure and evaluation system, and provide clear guidance for enterprises.

Broaden financing channels and support the development of green industries

Encourage financial institutions to develop more green financial products, guide social capital to invest in green industries, and provide financial support for ESG innovation and entrepreneurship.

Strengthen talent training and build an ESG professional team

Schools should offer ESG-related courses to cultivate interdisciplinary and compound talents; enterprises should strengthen ESG training to enhance employees’ ESG awareness and skills.
